The Methodist Family Health Emergency Shelter provides temporary placement in a safe and structured environment for youth new to Methodist Family Health who are in danger of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or exploitation. The Shelter, located in Little Rock, also can serve as a temporary placement for youth who are awaiting a more permanent placement. The Shelter accepts children and adolescents ages 6-18.
Referral sources are the state Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the MFH Continuum. The Shelter serves both boys and girls, with length of stays generally from 1 to 45 days.
Youth attend public school and are expected to complete designated chores, including creating menus, shopping for groceries and preparing meals.
