HOW TO PLAY SOUTHERN SILKS STAKES

It’s the fastest game on one stick. Faux horse racing has all the same elements as thoroughbred racing, except our horses don’t eat hay. Here’s how to play when you attend our in-person Southern Silks Stakes event.

Rules of the Game

Maybe you don’t want to be tempted by any auction items, but you still want to help the Arkansas children and families in our care. We have easy ways for you to do just that!

  1. Guests sign in and purchase betting bucks ($5 each). Additional betting bucks may be purchased throughout the event.
  2. Please clearly print your name on the back of each buck prior to placing your bets.
  3. Place bets at any of the six (6) different betting windows, which are color coded to the horses/sponsors competing in each race.
  4. You can place multiple bets on multiple horses. Chances of winning increase with the number of bets placed.
  5. Post times will be announced throughout the evening. There will be five (5) races run with time for betting prior to each.
  6. Jockeys selected in advance by table sponsors will take their places on the track for designated races.
  7. Jockeys will advance at the roll of dice, which will indicate color and number of spaces to
  8. The jockey who crosses the finish line first rides the WIN horse. The jockey who crosses after the WIN horse rides the PLACE horse. The jockey who crosses after the PLACE horse rides the SHOW horse.
  9. At the end of each race, one (1) betting buck will be drawn for each of the Win, Place, Show levels. The person whose name is on the winning betting buck drawn will be awarded a gift bag from the prize table according to which level they won.
