Pastoral Care

Founded in the compassionate tradition of Arkansas Methodism, Methodist Family Health has remained a ministry in its heart.

Even though we have incorporated as a stand-alone, nonprofit organization, our roots and daily mission are still firmly planted in service.

Pastoral care at Methodist Family Health provides spiritual care and emotional support for all clients, staff and families across our continuum of care. We focus on building genuine human connections through:

  • Weekly small groups for clients at various levels in our continuum of care.
  • One-on-one conversations.
  • Pastoral support.

We also collaborate with our mental health and recreational therapists, behavioral instructors and other staff to provide supportive care. And, we engage with volunteers and local churches to offer programs and support to children and teens across Arkansas.

Prayer

Add our kids and their families to your prayer lists at church and remember them as you pray.

Spirituality Services

Twice per month on Sunday afternoons, outside groups visit our Little Rock Residential Treatment Center or Methodist Behavioral Hospital in Maumelle. There, they lead activities for children and youth in our care. These groups—often church youth groups, congregations, or community organizations—share their talents through music, devotionals, games, dramas, snacks, and worship services.

Come make a child’s day! We need fun-loving and caring groups to spend time with kids and teens at Methodist Family Health. These meaningful visits can be customized to match your mission, gifts and talents. Find more information for volunteers on our Spirituality Services page. Ready to volunteer? Fill out our online registration.

Inspirational Resources

Devotionals, journals, adult and children’s bibles, and other books are offered to every child, teen and mother who enters our care. While these resources can strengthen mental health, they are not mandatory. We respect each individual’s beliefs and past experiences, as we ultimately want them to feel safe and loved, not shamed or excluded.

Mission & Volunteer Opportunies

Funding is always needed to help provide for the spiritual needs of our patients. Your congregation or group can pledge to donate funds to purchase bibles and spiritual study materials. You also can organize your church to provide a pancake breakfast, host a chili cook-off or grill hot dogs for a picnic for any of the kids in our care.Ā
