Emergency Shelter Care
Methodist Family Health has two Emergency Shelters: one on the Fillmore Campus in Little Rock and a second at the John Magale Group Home in Magnolia. The Shelters provides temporary placement in a safe and structured environment for youth new to Methodist Family Health who are in danger of abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or exploitation. The Shelters also can serve as a temporary placement for youth who are awaiting a more permanent placement. The Shelters accept children and adolescents ages 6-18. Youth attend public school and are expected to completed designated chores, including creating menus, shopping for groceries and preparing meals.

· Referral sources - Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Continuum
· Capacity - Little Rock - 5 beds (boys and girls); Magnolia - 2 beds (girls only)
· Length of stay - 1 to 45 days within a 6 month period of time
· Criteria for acceptance - ages 6-18; children and adolescents who have experienced or are in danger of the following: child abuse, neglect, abandonment and/or exploitation, Families in Need of Services (FINS), runaways and foster care children
· Uses the Teaching-Family Model
· Payment sources - DCFS and Medicaid for therapy
· Aftercare, placement and follow-up - limited by placement options; difficult unless within Continuum
